Hakkımda

Dr. Rahime Erbaş is associate professor in criminal law at Istanbul University. She studied law at Selçuk University, pursued public law master with the topic ‘the Mandatory Reporting Duty of Healthcare Providers from a Comparative Law Perspective’ at Istanbul University and at Justus Liebig Universität Gießen in Germany (Erasmus Exchange) in 2012. In 2019, she completed her PhD with the title ‘Legal Duty to Act in Crimes of the Omission (delicta commissionis per omissionem) in the Turkish Penal Code’ at Istanbul University. Dr. Erbaş carried out a doctoral research at the Osnabrück University in Germany between 2016 and 2017 and has been a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institut in Freiburg (2019), University of Zürich (2020) and Alma Mater Studiorum– University of Bologna (2023). Dr. Erbaş spent one year between September 1, 2023 and August 31, 2024, in Scotland where she carried out her postdoctoral research in Criminal Law and Criminal Justice in the Glasgow Law School as a fellow of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK). She has taken part in the workshops on intervention programmes for sexual offenders by the Department of Probation, the Ministry of Justice in Türkiye.

She has edited books on various topics: E. Johnston, R. Erbaş and D. Jasinski, A Comparative Analysis of Pre-Trial Procedure in Europe: The Search for an Ideal Model (Istanbul University Press, 2020), V. Bonini and R. Erbaş, The 10th Anniversary of the Istanbul Convention (Pisa University Press, 2022) and V. Bonini, R. Erbaş and S. Türkoğlu, Dangerousness and Criminal Justice: Dialogue Between Italy and Türkiye (Pisa University Press, 2023). Further, Global Problems in Sexual Offenses (Lexington, 2022), Combatting Violence against Women from a Criminal Law Perspective I, II, II, (Turkish: Adalet, 2022; 2023; 2024), Sexual Offenses from Legal and Criminological Perspective (Turkish and with S. Çakırhan: Adalet, 2023) and European Perspectives on Attrition in Sexual Offenses (Lexington, 2023). Dr. Erbaş has recently published Restorative Justice Conversations with the Experts (Adalet, 2024). She is section editor at Journal of Penal Law and Criminology. Further, she serves as an Editorial Board Member of Women’s Studies International Forum, an Elsevier journal.
